Who we are

About Gloaming Fields

Gloaming Fields was created to provide thoughtful, knowledgeable care for horses in their later years and during periods of recovery.

Located in South East Wales overlooking the Severn Estuary, the yard offers a peaceful rural setting where horses can live with consistent routines, open grazing and attentive daily management.

With fourteen stables and over seventeen acres of grazing across two sites, we are able to offer both live-out retirement and assisted retirement with stabling overnight, alongside dedicated convalescent livery for horses recovering from injury, surgery or veterinary treatment.

Every horse is managed according to their individual needs, with regular daily checks, calm routines and close communication with owners and veterinary professionals when required.

At Gloaming Fields we believe horses deserve thoughtful management at every stage of life, particularly during their quieter years or vulnerable periods of recovery. Our aim is to provide owners with reassurance and horses with a calm, carefully managed environment where their welfare comes first.

About Emma

Emma’s experience with horses began early. After leaving school at sixteen, she worked in racing and polo yards, developing a strong foundation in horse management, training and riding.

Working within these demanding environments also provided extensive experience managing everyday and sport-related injuries, rehabilitation routines and the practical realities of keeping horses sound and comfortable while in work.

By the age of twenty-one she had progressed to training and riding her own point-to-point winner, gaining the Novice Jockey title for South Wales.

At twenty-four Emma travelled to New Zealand, where she spent a year working with thoroughbreds for Olympic show jumper Jeff McVean, specialising in the management and retraining of problem horses.

More recently, Emma has been fostering horses for the charity RMJ Horse Rescue, continuing her commitment to supporting horses that require patience, rehabilitation and thoughtful management.

These varied experiences underpin the ethos at Gloaming Fields, where the focus is on providing calm, knowledgeable care for horses in their later years or during periods of recovery.
