About Gloaming Fields

Gloaming Fields Equine Services was created around a lifetime of practical horse experience and a simple approach — reliable, knowledgeable help tailored to the individual horse.

Based in South East Wales, Gloaming Fields offers a range of practical equine services including horse transport, clipping, riding and exercise, wound and aftercare support, and everyday horse care when owners need an experienced extra pair of hands.

No two horses are the same, and not every job fits neatly into a set package. Whether it’s transporting a nervous traveller, keeping a horse exercised while an owner is away, helping manage an injury following veterinary treatment, or simply stepping in when life makes the day-to-day jobs difficult, the focus is always on calm handling, common sense and the welfare of the horse.

Gloaming Fields is built on experience rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, with each horse handled and cared for according to their individual needs.

If you’re not sure whether the help you need falls under one of our listed services, just ask — if it involves horses, there’s a good chance we can help.

About Emma

Horses have been part of my working life since I left school at sixteen.

I started out working in racing and polo yards, where I gained the sort of practical horse experience that only comes from looking after and riding a lot of very different horses every day.

By twenty-one I was training and riding my own point-to-pointer and won the South Wales Novice Jockey title.

At twenty-four I travelled to New Zealand, where I spent a year working with thoroughbreds for Olympic showjumper Jeff McVean, including working with horses that required retraining or a more individual approach.

Over the years I have ridden, handled, travelled and cared for horses from all sorts of backgrounds and personalities — from competition horses and youngsters to retired horses, rescues and those that have had a rather more complicated journey through life.

More recently, much of my time has been spent working alongside RMJ Horse Rescue, fostering and supporting horses arriving from Malta and helping with their transport, rehabilitation, rehoming and aftercare.

That varied experience is what Gloaming Fields Equine Services is built around.

I’m not interested in turning every job into a complicated programme. Good horsemanship is often about watching the horse in front of you, using common sense, taking your time when necessary and knowing when something isn't quite right.

Whether I'm transporting a horse, clipping one that is slightly unsure about the whole idea, riding one out or helping an owner manage an injury, that approach stays the same.
